Blue Days Footwear: the best of both worlds

25th May 2015

It was huge in the 90s and it is making its revival. I’m talking about the Canadian tuxedo or double denim. First seen back on the Spring/Summer ’15 runways of Burberry Prorsum, Gucci, Stella McCartney and Saint Laurent, the trend is now hitting the streets.

Even better than going double denim, is triple denim of course. And that is wear Blue Days Footwear comes in. Blue Days is a denim sneaker brand, founded in 2012 by designer Yanto Drogt. We met up with Yanto in his hometown Rotterdam for a chat and shot some pictures afterwards with Yanto and his son Lee at the Museumpark. DSC_6179

Blue Days Footwear was born 3 years ago and created out of love for denim and sneakers. Yanto decided to combine the best of both worlds and designed a timeless sneaker collection for both men and women that consists of boat shoes, brogues, low tops and runners, made out of denim. All styles are created with high-quality fabrics from Italy, have a sporty rubber sole and premium leather details. Just like wearing a pair of jeans, these sneakers age beautifully and can be worn for several seasons.

From the fabric leftovers, Yanto’s lovely wife Sharifah creates new denim items, like the jackets you can spot in the pictures. I like the idea of letting nothing go to waste and create beautiful items out of denim leftovers.

Although Amsterdam is often called the ‘denim capital of Europe’, it is clear that the denim community in Rotterdam is growing and should be considered as well. Brands like Blue Days Footwear contribute in their own unique way to this growth and we are fully supporting this!
